Best Date Night Restaurants in Calgary

Last updated: June 2026

Looking for the best date night restaurants in Calgary? Whether you’re planning a first date, celebrating an anniversary, or simply looking for a great night out, these are the restaurants I’d book. What you want from a date night depends on your mood: a packed room with energy, somewhere quiet where you can actually talk, or a table with a view.

If You Only Try Three

🥇For a first date →  skip the white tablecloths and high stakes. Letty strikes the right balance: attractive without being intimidating, lively without being loud. The creative menu, shareable plates, and options for a variety of dietary preferences make it an easy place to get to know someone.

🥇For a fun date → head to Hayden Block for drinks and live music. Make your way upstairs on Fridays and Saturdays, where performances start at 8:30 p.m. The twinkling lights, neon-lit stage, and modern Nashville-inspired atmosphere make it easy to stay for another round.

🥇For a romantic summer date → head to River Café. Tucked into Prince’s Island Park, the patio overlooks the lagoon and Bow River. Start with oysters and champagne, then settle in for a leisurely dinner as the evening light fades over the water.

Classic Date Night

Proven favourites that never go out of style.

Caesar’s Steakhouse

Established in 1972, Caesar’s Steakhouse has been anchoring steakhouse date nights for over five decades. The room is unapologetically old school, a sea of red leather, white tablecloths, and a full showcase of meats.

What to order: Classic Caesar Salad ($23), New York Striploin (10.5 oz, $58) or Rib Eye (10.5 oz, $64), with a bottle of Château Perron, Lalande-de-Pomerol ($105). For something more affordable, Bodegas LAN Reserva Rioja ($65).

Chairman’s Steakhouse
For a classic steakhouse date night, Chairman’s delivers attentive service, an extensive wine list, and one of Calgary’s best-value steak dinners on Wednesdays.

→ What to order: Wednesday special ($110 for two). Three courses: cheese toast, salad, 20 oz ribeye, sides, and cheesecake. Add the ruby port sauce to your steak. It takes 48 hours to prepare, creating a rich, concentrated flavour. I don’t usually order steak with sauce, but this one won me over.

The Keg Steakhouse + Bar

Don’t laugh. Few places deliver this level of consistency and value. Wines start at $35 a bottle.

What to order: Calamari ($19), New York Striploin (12 oz, $56), Prime Rib (10 oz, $44), and the Billy Miner Pie ($12). For wine, affordable options include: Château Larose-Trintaudon ($62), J. Lohr “Seven Oaks” Cabernet ($60, 26 oz), or Majella “The Musician” Cabernet & Shiraz ($60, 26 oz).

True Wild Distillery

A distillery inside a historic all-concrete building, previously home to Calgary Power / TransAlta’s first substation. Excellent cocktails, live-fire cooking, and impressive spaces that feel unlike anywhere else in Calgary.

What to order: Dirty Dry Martini ($14), Roasted and Glazed Pork Belly ($48), and the Grilled Steelhead Trout ($46).

Lively, Social Date

For when you want movement, noise, and a room that feels alive.

Calcutta Cricket

The room is gorgeous, but the food and service are the real reasons to come.

What to order. Don’t miss the Chips and Curry ($15), Tandoori-Spiced Chicken Kati Roll ($9), and Malai Chicken ($45).

Hayden Block

A fun date-night pick for live music lovers. Head upstairs on Fridays and Saturdays for live performances starting at 8:30 p.m. The twinkling lights, neon-lit stage, and modern Nashville-inspired atmosphere make it easy to stay for another round.

What to order. Brisket, wings, half chicken, pulled pork, cornbread, and the broccoli salad. Half priced meats (deal excludes the big beef bone) after 10:00 p.m. daily. Try the Lil’ Darling Hard Tea ($9, 18 oz).

Letty Pizza

Letty offers a fresh take on pizza night. The attractive room, creative menu, and shareable plates make it an easy date-night choice. The beautifully soft, puffy crust showcases the quality of Letty’s dough.

What to order. Start with the grilled cabbage ($17), one of the best cabbage dishes in the city, then order the Margherita pizza ($23) or the weekly feature.

Indulgent Date Night

For when you feel like splurging and don’t mind a little excess.

Bar Gigi
One of the city’s toughest reservations to secure. With only a handful of tables, reservations are essential.

→ What to order: Try the prawn toast. The bread had a buttery, golden crunch that gave way to a prawn filling with a devilled egg–like creaminess. It brought to mind the fried goodness of a dim sum shrimp spring roll. Ask for a wine pairing. Served icy cold, it slices through the toast’s fatty richness.

Pat & Betty

European-leaning, with warm service, a strong wine list, and dishes that lean super rich.

What to order: Pork Belly and Scallops ($58), Add-On Caviar ($19), and the P&B Carrot Cake ($17). For wine, Varichon & Clerc “Privilège” Blanc de Blancs Brut ($54) or Domaine Servin Chablis ($104).

Date Night with a View

Major Tom

Best if you want to make a night of it. Enjoy the sweeping city views from the 40th floor. Or go early and reap the benefits. From 3–5 p.m., half off all bottles of wine, $12 martinis, and $5 draft beer.

What to order: Major Tots ($8), Major Tom Cheeseburger ($29), Smoked Pork Belly ($15), Gin Martini ($19), Château de Carles Fronsac ($95) or La Massa ($110).

Opal Restaurant

For a special occasion, head to Opal at Azuridge Estate Hotel. The setting is hard to beat: a crackling fireplace, floor-to-ceiling windows, and sweeping foothills views as the sun sets.

What to order: If the lamb duo is featured, don’t hesitate to order it.

Quiet, Romantic Date

For conversations that matter more than the scene.

River Café

If Major Tom is about the view, this is about the setting. River Café sits in the middle of Prince’s Island Park. The patio looks out onto the lagoon and the Bow River, while inside, it’s all wood, warmth, and a room that makes you slow down.

→ What to order: Fresh Shucked Oysters (half dozen, $30) paired with Choblot Haut Bourg Muscadet “Pavillon” ($55), or Taittinger Brut ($140) if you’re splurging. Rangeland Bison Ribeye ($69) or Top Grass Beef Tenderloin ($70) with 2022 Emilio Moro Ribera del Duero ($93).
