Who We Are

Inspired by Mans Dinner YYC, No Man’s Dinner YYC is a copycat version with equal rights amendment. Some of us are foodies, others are just regular people who like dining out, but we all share a primary interest in exploring Calgary’s food scene.

What We Do

We organize food and/or drink events (i.e. meet-ups and formal dinners) approximately 6 times per year on a bimonthly basis. Keep an eye on our individual Instagrams and this page for event details. Locations are currently chosen based on the whims of Founder and President, but we are open to suggestions from members and restaurateurs.

How Do I Join?

  1. Review our Rules and FAQs below to ensure that our group is what you are looking for.
  2. Request to join the group by Instagram DM to @nomansdinner. If you are accepted, your name will be added to our private Member List.
  3. When the next event is announced on Instagram, members will be invited via our comments on the post. We will specify whether or not the event has space for guests.
  4. RSVP by replying to our comment on the post (see Rules #2 and #3). We will reply to confirm your spot.

Group Rules

We are a pretty chill crowd, but we reserve the right to ban you from the group if you break one of our rules:

  1. Be a good human.
What does it mean to be a good human? Be civil. Be polite. We do not tolerate any form of abusive language, behaviour, etc. This also includes showing up on time for dinner.
  2. RSVPs are mandatory.
RSVP = “yes” or “no,” no “maybes.” Randomly showing up without an RSVP is not permitted. Deadline to RSVP is one week prior to the event, or else your spot may be given to another member. Rule 2 relates to Rule 1 – be a good human!
  3. Don’t be a flake.
We understand that life happens, so let us know (via Instagram DM) ASAP if you can no longer attend an event. If you no-show or cancel less than 24 hours before the event, you will not be permitted to attend our next event. Why is this important? Back to Rule 1. Be a good human. We do not want to put a business in the position of reserving us 20 spots when only four show up.
  4. Always bring cash.
In the event of family-style dining, shared plates, plastic not accepted, inability to split a bill, etc., be prepared to contribute cash. Can’t pay = can’t eat. No Man’s Dinner does not pay for Members’ meals.

FAQs

1.  Who gets accepted into No Man’s Dinner YYC?

We are all about equal rights (including men despite our name) so everyone is welcome to apply. However, for organizational purposes, in order to be accepted into the group you must be:
a. 18+ years old (we sometimes organize events in pubs).
b. Interested in food (i.e. we are not here to help you find a hot date).
c. Follow @nomansdinner on Instagram

2. Do I have to attend every dinner?

No! Come to whichever events you are interested in. However, if you do not respond to our invitations and/or decline more than 6 events in a row, we reserve the right to remove you from the Member List.

3. How many people can you accommodate at an event?

Depends on the individual event. For events with limited space, members will be invited by random selection from the Member List.

4. I was not invited to the last event, does this guarantee my invitation to the next one?

No. However, we strive to rotate the order of invitations to allow equal access with consideration of members’ adherence to our Rules.

5. Can I leave the Member List?

You can leave anytime, just DM @nomansdinner

6. Do I have to post about events on Instagram?

Up to you! If you do post on Instagram, use our hashtag #NoMansDinner so we can check out your pics.
